HOW DOES IT WORK?

STEP 1:

Drop us a line — call 0759 542 3547 or email hello@midlandsdrumschool.com. We’ll chat dates, times, and answer any questions (yes, we bring everything).

STEP 2:

We send over our DBS certificates and sort any safeguarding or school paperwork. Easy peasy.

STEP 3:

We turn up, set up in around 15 minutes, and transform your hall or room into a mini drum arena. Don't worry, we'll leave it in the same state we found it - we'll even vacuum it if necessary!

STEP 4:

You send us groups of 8+ kids for 20–30 minute workshops packed with rhythm, games, and good vibes.

STEP 5:

If the kids (and staff) love it — which they will — you can book weekly individual drum lessons, more workshops, or both.

STEP 6:

We return for a second free workshop – because once is never enough.

Q: Do you need access to a hall, classroom, or any specific facilities?

A: All we need is a normal size classroom or hall to fit in our gear - don't worry we've not had a room too small for us to fit.

Q: Is it suitable for students with no musical experience?

A: Our workshops are designed to be fully inclusive and accessible for children of all musical abilities, from complete beginners to more experienced players.

Q: Is the workshop suitable for all key stages? Can it be adapted for different year groups?

A: Yes, the workshop is fully adaptable. We offer tailored sessions for Key Stages 1–4, with content, language, and activities adjusted for age and ability. Primary sessions are play-based and interactive, while secondary sessions explore more complex rhythms, ensemble work, and musical structure.

Q: Will students learn about rhythm, musical styles, notation, or cultural context?

A: Yes. Students will explore rhythm, tempo, texture, dynamics, and call-and-response structures. Depending on the age group, we can include world rhythms (such as African or Latin drumming), a look at cultural origins, and basic graphic or traditional notation.

Q: Are there any cross-curricular links (e.g. with history, PE, or PSHE)?

A: Absolutely. The workshop supports: PE: Through coordination, gross motor skills, and teamwork. History/Geography: When exploring cultural drumming traditions. PSHE: Builds confidence, communication, emotional expression, and collaboration.

A: Yes. Activities are designed to be inclusive, sensory-rich, and adaptable. I have experience working with SEN pupils, and instruments and instruction can be adapted for a range of needs and abilities.

Q: How do you ensure all children are engaged and participating?

A: The workshop is highly interactive and movement-based. Every student gets an instrument and a clear role. Group games, call-and-response, and creative freedom ensure all learners stay engaged.
