I’ve taught in schools across the Midlands, seen the not-so-fun side of traditional grades, and decided to do it better with Midlands Drum School – where lessons are all about real music and actual fun.
Why I Teach Drums (and Why You’ll Love It)
Hey, I’m Alisdair – drummer, teacher, and founder of Midlands Drum School. I’ve been hitting things (musically) for over 15 years, recording with bands around the world, with tunes on Universal and BBC Radio.
Lessons happen in the Drum Cubby – my cosy home studio – where creativity flows, and Rupert the dog occasionally steals the show.
Drumming’s not just the most fun instrument to learn (though it is). It boosts confidence, focus, coordination – basically therapy with cymbals.
After teaching in loads of schools in the Midlands, I noticed most drum lessons rely on old-school grade systems that suck the joy out of playing. Out-of-date songs and drills from a 1930s military manual? Hard pass.
So I created MDS Levels – a fun, modern alternative that puts real music and creativity first. You'll learn to play to music that you love in the very first (free) lesson.
